5 Vital Tips to a Successful Yelp Reviews Strategy

Review Your Yelp Reviewers Before They Post
so that your 5 Star Yelp reviews
are more likely to be published
Yelp Reviews are vital to our businesses. You know that. What you may not know, however, are some interesting tidbits about YELP.
1. Reviewer’s first review
If you ask someone to give you a review on Yelp and they have never given one before, there is a high likelihood that their review of you will get filtered by Yelp.
How to get around this: Make sure you are not the subject of their first review. Let them do three or four other reviews (5 – 10 sentences) first.
2. Reviewers who only give 5 star reviews
If your reviewer has only ever left 5 star reviews, chances are they will be filtered by Yelp.
How to get around this: If you know the reviewer, ask them if they have (or if they would) give varied reviews to other businesses before reviewing you.
3. Check-in
Ask your Reviewer to “check-in” at your business. This adds authenticity to the review.
4. Attach a picture
Attaching a picture at the time of check-in adds double authenticity to the review.
5. Keep asking.
It takes 20 good reviews to push down a bad one.
According to some local business owners I know, Yelp reviews blow away Google reviews in terms of effectiveness and phone calls. (But you still need some on Google too for your SEO. Remember, Google likes Google.)
Yelp is location driven, so advertising is often necessary. Advertise on Yelp only when you have a TON of 5 star reviews.
